Career Preparation

I'm currently on the way to becoming an EME Officer and have been wanting to find ways to prepare myself for the position. I know what role EME officers play so this topic is more geared toward what I can do to better prepare myself as an EME officer on my own time.

So if any officers have any advice for things that you've read or seen that have helped you throughout your career, or if any techs have anything they wish their officers had taken the time to learn or read could you fill me in? I don't just mean military related things either but anything like general books on car/equipment maintenance or leadership resources you know of for example.
